Puspa Shah

Vanderbilt University Sophomore

Puspa Shah joined the Sahu Research Group during her sophomore year of high school and made an indelible mark over her three years with us. Graduating from Campbellsville High School in May 2023, she emerged as a significant contributor despite her younger age compared to her peers. Her keen intellect and enthusiasm for research enabled her to serve as a co-author on multiple projects presented by other lab members, showcasing her valuable insights and commitment to advancing our understanding of the KCNE3 membrane protein.

Following her high school graduation, Puspa took a significant step in her academic journey by moving to Nashville, TN, to pursue her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt University. Her remarkable aptitude and dedication did not go unnoticed, resulting in her selection for the prestigious Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program (SURF). This opportunity allowed her to complete a ten-week internship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center this summer, where she further explored her aspirations in biomedical research and medicine.

Even as she continues her studies, Puspa maintains her connection to our lab. She returns to Campbellsville whenever possible and actively participates in research presentations, including her detailed overview of her recent internship experience at our August Summer Undergraduate Presentations.

We are excited to witness the unfolding of Puspa’s future and the contributions she will undoubtedly make to the field.
