Patricia Loka, a dedicated double major in Biology and Psychology, and a minor in Chemistry, has proven to be an invaluable asset to our research lab focused on KCNE3 membrane protein studies. Her reliability and commitment were evident during her first summer here, where she immersed herself in the lab's procedures and initiated the crucial data collection process. Patricia’s primary investigation centers around disease-causing mutations linked to KCNE3, displaying her keen interest in understanding the molecular foundations of diseases.

Beyond her academic prowess, Patricia exemplifies compassion and leadership as a youth ambassador for the Panzi Foundation. Her commitment to supporting survivors of sexual violence at Panzi Hospital reflects her strong character and dedication to making a positive impact in the community. Through her fundraising efforts, she has raised over $1,000, demonstrating her initiative and passion for advocacy.

With aspirations to attend medical school after graduation, Patricia embodies the characteristics of a proactive and empathetic individual. Her experiences in both the research lab and her community service illustrate her readiness to tackle challenges head-on and contribute meaningfully to the medical field.
